Join your fellow Yale Club Members to attend the World Premier San Francisco Opera Production of The Monkey King: A new opera with a libretto by Yale School of Drama alumnus David Henry Hwang.
Mr. Hwang has previously won a Tony Award for his internationally triumphant play, M. Butterfly (1988); and he wrote the libretto for the Grammy-winning recording of the Osvaldo Golijov opera, Ainadenamar (2006).
This unique new opera combines Mr. Hwang’s libretto with music (both Western and Chinese), dance, puppetry, and lavish staging to tell the tale of the legendary Monkey King - a monkey born from stone determined to find immortality for his tribe.
