Join YCSF on Thursday, March 19th for a conversation with Simon J. Frankel, co-author of the 6th edition of Law, Ethics, and the Visual Arts, recently published by Cambridge University Press. Judge Frankel will challenge the audience with thought-provoking discussion and questions on the legal definition of art, issues of copyright infringement and art, the impact of artificial intelligence on legal protection for art, and the restitution of Nazi-looted art and repatriation of art taken during colonial times.
The event will begin at 5pm with check-in and networking. The presentation will begin at 5:30, followed by Q&A and additional networking. Wine and light hors d'oeuvres will be served.

The Honorable Simon J. Frankel (JD ‘91) is a judge on the Superior Court of California, for the County of San Francisco. He is also a lecturer at Stanford Law School, where he has long taught a class entitled Art and the Law. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Frankel spent 28 years in private law practice litigation focused on copyright and trademark litigation, technology and privacy disputes, and legal issues related to visual art.
