YALE DAY OF SERVICE 2026

Thanks to Margie Baer '85, '85 MS, our Yale Day of Service regional director for 8 years, we are thrilled to invite you to join our local projects. This year, our Bay Area community is leading the charge with an incredible slate of projects that embody the Yale tradition of service. Whether you are looking to restore our local environment, support food security, or engage in family-friendly volunteerism, we have a spot for you. Here are the featured projects in our region for 2026 (with more projects to come and let us know if you would like to lead a new project):
Family-Friendly Habitat Restoration (Brooks Park, SF)
Date: Saturday, April 25 | 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Impact: Help restore native habitats and maintain the community garden at this beautiful neighborhood park. Perfect for all ages!
Project Open Hand (Polk Street,SF)
Date: Friday, May 8 | 12:15 PM -- 3:30 PM
Impact: Assist in meal preparation for seniors and neighbors facing food insecurity.
St. Anthony’s Dining Room (Tenderloin, SF)
Date: Saturday, May 9 (Main Day of Service) | 9:30 AM -- 1:30 PM
Impact: Serve meals to those in need at one of San Francisco’s most iconic social service institutions.
The Gardens at Lake Merritt -- Family Friendly (Oakland)
Date: Saturday, May 9 | 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Impact: Join fellow Yalies in beautifying and maintaining these historic gardens to support our urban green spaces.
San Francisco-Marin Food Bank (Southeast SF)
Date: Saturday May 9 | 11:00 AM -- 1:00 PM
Impact: Address hunger head-on by sorting and packing goods with the SF leader in food assistance.
