Southern Africa: Botswana and Namibia

A Virtual Zoom Talk by Robert Root, MD

This presentation will focus on wildlife photography in two extraordinary geographic regions of Southern Africa: the UNESCO World Heritage floodplains of the Okavango Delta in Botswana and the arid desert landscapes of Western Namibia. The images will illustrate the remarkable diversity of wildlife in these areas with a particular emphasis on elephants and lions.

The talk will also address issues around conservation and current threats to wildlife including climate change.

Robert Root MD (Yale '88) is an adolescent and adult psychiatrist in San Francisco and a Climate Reality Leader through Al Gore's Climate Reality Project. He has also published two books of photography: Image in Mind and Imagining Istanbul.
